Sugar Cookie Icing

Updated: Sep 20, 2019

It's easy and delicious to dress up your cookies!

It's funny, I took a cooking glass where the chef was trying to teach everyone a complicated way to make icing for petite fours. She was quite stunned when she realized that I could make it smooth without heating or sifting. But then, this was a staple at our house and a recipe I've used for years.

Granny Mae Wisdom--there's no such thing as a bad cookie. Unless it's burnt. Save those for the people you don't like.

You don't have to use Almond Extract. I use everything from Peppermint to Banana to even the cola syrup for the machines you can buy in Target. Cherry Cola is delicious and easy AND makes the cookies and cakes very moist and tender.

Sugar Cookie Icing

2 cups Confectioner's Sugar

2 tbs Water

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

1/2 tsp Almond Extract

Mix it all together with a small whisk. Brush over cooled cookies (it helps to place on wax or parchment paper). Garnish with granulated sugar or sprinkles.
