This is an old recipe I've been doing for years. I'm not even sure when I started or who gave me the recipe. Probably my sister. It is a wonderful side dish and I love to make it with barbecue.
Granny Mae Wisdom--Everything is better with butter and salt.
You can play around with the seasonings and even use different cheeses. It's just a very basic recipe that can be changed up for anyone's taste. The one thing I would suggest is using sweet Vidalia Onions.
Georgia Onions
Ingredients:
3-6 Vidalia Onions
Cajun seasoning to taste
Garlic Powder to taste
Oregano to taste
1/4 Cup of butter cut into pieces/slices
1 Cup each of Shredded Sharp Cheddar and Colby cheese (or to taste)
Grated Parmesan Cheese
Steps:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Grease a 9 X 13 casserole dish.
3. Put onions in dish.
4. Add oregano, Cajun and Garlic. Sprinkle over onions and stir to coat.
5. Cover with butter and cheese.
Bake in oven until onions are tender and cheese is golden brown.
Enjoy!
