This is one of those deserts that looks really, really hard, tastes delicious and impresses people at parties and get togethers.
Did I say they were easy?
You won't believe how easy!
Granny Mae Wisdom--If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But sometimes even perfection could use a little chocolate.
If you want to pump up the recipe, you can add 1/3 cup of Irish Bailey's Cream or a dessert wine such as Arrington Vineyard's Strawberry or Blueberry wine.
Easy Cookie Truffles
11 oz of cookies (any kind you want, though I like chocolate covered Oreos)
8 oz Philly Cream Cheese
Enough dipping waffers to cover them
Optional toppings: jimmies, walnuts, etc.
Optional 1/3 cup liqueur
Steps:
1. Crumble cookies. I often put them in a Ziplock and beat with a wooden spoon. A food processor will also work.
2. Place cookie crumbles and cream cheese into a mixing bowl for your mixer.
3. Mix on medium until cookies and cheese are well blended.
4. Add in liqueur if you want.
5. Remove from mixer and shape into round balls.
6. Place round balls on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
7. Freeze for 45-60 minutes.
8. Melt the chocolate wafers per the package instructions.
9. Dip the balls into the chocolate and return to baking sheet.
10. Cover with toppings before the chocolate hardens.
11. Let set about 10 minutes & enjoy!
12. Please refrigerate leftovers.
